September Earnings Breakdown: A $31,030 Online Revenue Report

Welcome to September’s online income report! Here, I’ll break down how I made money online last month. If you’re new, you might wonder why I share my income reports each month. Initially, it started as a way to track the extra money I made from side jobs, excluding my day job as a financial analyst, which I left in October 2013. Now, these reports cover all the ways I earn a living each month.

Many people ask why I publicly post my income. Some think it’s crazy, while others appreciate the transparency. I do it for three main reasons:

First, before I started blogging, I knew nothing about side hustles or making money online. I thought the only way to boost your income was through raises and promotions at your full-time job. Seeing others’ income reports inspired me to try side hustling, and I want to show others how it can positively impact their lives. There are many ways to make money online, and sharing my story can motivate others to improve their financial situation.

Second, these reports help me track my progress, learn from my mistakes, and see where I need improvement. It’s like a journal for my business journey.

Lastly, I want to show that making money from home is possible and there are many legitimate ways to do it. If you’re looking for more information, I’ve published an article showcasing successful bloggers who share their income each month.

Life has been great since becoming my own boss. I look forward to each day and love waking up every morning. I want to show others that you don’t have to hate your job or your life. You can make changes and earn money in a way that allows you to enjoy your life. You don’t have to love your job, but it should at least allow you to do what you love outside of work.

So, how did I do in September? It was an amazing month for business income, despite being busy with friends, family, and attending FinCon. I didn’t get much work done, but working ahead paid off. When I first switched to self-employment, things were hectic, but now they’re much more manageable. Even though my income has increased, I’ve been working less and mastering work-life balance.

In September, I earned $31,030 in business income before expenses. After accounting for fees and expenses, I made approximately $28,830. If you’re interested in starting a blog, I have a tutorial to help you get started for as low as $3.49 per month for blog hosting. You’ll also get a free domain if you purchase at least 12 months of hosting through my Bluehost link. Being self-hosted is essential if you want to monetize your blog.

In September, I also attended FinCon, which was a lot of fun. I met many great bloggers, attended sessions, and even won a Plutus Award for Best Personal Finance Blog For Millennials. Pinterest continues to be a major source of referral traffic for me, and I highly recommend using Tailwind for managing Pinterest.

Featured Question: How long does it take to earn money blogging?
There’s no one answer to this. I started making a few hundred dollars a month less than a year after starting my blog. After two years, I was earning thousands while still working my day job. Some bloggers make thousands within a few months, while others don’t make any money. It depends on your effort, time, and how you monetize your blog.

Past questions include:

– Do I need millions of page views to make money blogging?

– Do only celebrities make money from websites?

My plans for my website and making money online include promoting more, potentially writing a book, accepting more interviews, and working on being less shy to grow my business.

Staff writing is a service I still enjoy. My newest client is H&R Block, and I continue writing for GoRVing, which is a lot of fun.

Website management is something I’m scaling back on to focus more on my blog and related services. I have contacts to refer if you need this service.

Affiliate income excites me more each month. In September, I earned around $23,000 in affiliate income. My main source is Bluehost, but I’m working on diversifying my affiliate income.

Breakdown of September’s income ($31,030 before expenses):
– Staff writing and website management: $2,400
– Blog coaching and consulting: $790
– Website-related (advertising and partnerships): $11,715

Keep in mind, as I work for myself, I cover taxes, health insurance, and other expenses.
