Extra Income Series: Crafting Online Campaigns for Businesses

Hey everyone! Welcome to the next edition of my “Extra Income” series. If you want to be featured, just send me an email. The first post in this series was about running a resume business.

Today, we’re diving into the world of social media and blog management with Candice. Many of you have been curious about these fields, so I hope this interview sheds some light!

Candice helps business owners maximize their online presence by writing engaging blog articles, making website content more exciting, and boosting engagement across digital platforms.

**How did you get started with your side hustle?**

Candice started her side hustle because she was unhappy with her job. She almost quit impulsively one day but decided to create another source of income first. She vowed never to rely on just one source of income again. After realizing this, she assessed her strengths and began writing and managing online content for various businesses.

**What got you interested in this job?**

Candice’s interest in this field began during college when she interned at a small social media firm run by a successful young woman. The experience was inspiring, and Candice knew she wanted to take control of her career in a similar way, although she initially thought it would take years to start.

**Tell me more about your services.**

Candice offers blog, website, and social media management for different businesses. She also runs a few blogs and works as a freelance writer. She creates editorial calendars and helps clients design strategies to build cohesive brands and attract more customers, aiming to add value and boost their bottom line.

**What has surprised you most about owning a business?**

Candice was surprised by how quickly her business grew. Her first client was so pleased that they recommended her to others, and word-of-mouth quickly expanded her client base. She found that personal referrals are the best form of advertising.

**What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a small business owner?**

The biggest lesson Candice has learned is to trust her gut. It has never led her astray, whether in choosing clients or deciding to start her own business.

**What are the start-up costs?**

Her startup costs were minimal. She spent $35 on business cards, $25 on a domain name and website, and around $50 on networking events.

**What’s the most positive thing about your side job?**

The most positive aspect of her side hustle is working with businesses she’s genuinely excited about, making it feel less like work and more like fun. Plus, she enjoys the flexibility of working from her favorite locations.

**What are your business goals for the upcoming year?**

Candice has four main goals for the next year:
1. Quit her job by December 2013 to fully focus on her clients.
2. Launch a new website on the day she quits her job.
3. Triple her income within the next year.
4. Secure more staff writing positions to diversify her income.

If you have any questions for her, feel free to leave them below! She’ll be answering them.
